Autocross

Type of Event - Competitive
Type of Surface - Grass/Mud/Dirt, in paddocks
Form of Motorsport - Clubsport, Basic

The last of the basic forms of Motorsport events that the MCC holds are Autocrosses.
An autocross is a timed competition where drivers navigate one at a time through a course marked by cones usually taking place in large paddocks Racing surfaces are usually a grass, mud, dirt mixture and this usually depends on the time of the year the event is held.
Similar in nature to Motorkhanas , these events are more faster, bigger and longer . However, you can still compete in a regular road going vehicle. The courses are longer in length than Motorkhanas and take two to three minutes to complete a course. Most courses involve one or more laps of the track.
As the speeds are increased, the vehicles are more prone to spinning out and losing control, however the room for error still allows for most mistakes to go without any damage.
Autocrosses are a good way to learn skills that transfer to road racing, as drivers learn vehicle control, weight transfer and driving a vehicle sideways to gain maximum speed through a corner.
As the speeds are increased, additional safety equipment are required. Helmets and fireproof overalls are compulsory.
Each competitor gets up to three attempts at the course . The fastest time of the day for each driver is the overall result. Usually times decrease, and speeds get faster as the surface of the course gets drier over the day, and as drivers learn to navigate the course for efficiently.
