Sprints

Type of Event - Speed, competitive
Surface of Road - Sealed or Gravel
There are several different types of Sprint events that the MCC holds every year.

Street Sprint - A single car sprint, which is held at the Riverlands Industrial Estate and also at Cloudy Bay Industrial Estate, on a sealed track. This is the closest thing to track racing we have in Marlborough. Chicanes and hairpins are included.
Bent Sprint - A short piece of road that is required to have at least a bend or curve in the track. Can be either Gravel or Tarmac.
Standing Sprint - also known as a 1/4 mile sprint (400m). We hold at least one of these near Seddon once a year. A test of the quickest car in a straight line.
These events require that all the drivers have a special Motorsport New Zealand Licence called a Clubsport Advanced License (or higher). All cars competing have to have a high standard of safety equipment, bucket seats, full harnesses, helmets, roll cage etc.
All of these events are timed events, where the competitors drive the fastest time against the clock.
